This piece refers to the San Telmo, a Spanish ship lost near Antarctica in 1819. Its presence is not commemorative, but material oxidation, erosion, surface altered by time and salt. The patina is not applied as ornament; it develops through a slow chemical process. A surface shaped by exposure as much as by the hand.
